AI Based Software: Terminology Extraction & Management
This workshop is dedicated to setting up and utilizing the general features of Interpretbank, a comprehensive terminology management tool.
Participants will engage in practical exercises focusing on the creation and usage of glossaries within the platform, emphasizing key features such as speech recognition, translation suggestions, fast search, automatic term extraction, automatic glossary creation, memorization, and the web app.
Designed for translators and interpreters new to CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools, particularly Terminology Management tools, the course also explores other CAT tools and Al platforms, including Interplex, Glossaries2Go, ChatGPT, and terminology extraction methods.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Install and set up Interpret bank on their computer.
- Configure the cloud account to utilize the Web App.
- Set up dictionaries and other tools for translation suggestions.
- Create a glossary from scratch and use translation suggestions.
- Create a glossary using speech recognition and translation suggestions.
- Upload and edit entries in an existing glossary.
- Generate a glossary using automatic term extraction.
- Utilize the memorization feature in Interpretbank.
- Operate the Web App and share glossaries with colleagues.
- Use ChatGPT to extract specialized terminology.
- Understand and employ other online terminology extraction tools.
- Evaluate the use of online terminology extraction tools concerning court interpreting ethical canons on privacy and confidentiality.

This class is 3 hours, delivered online via Zoom. Participants are required to have a computer and/or laptop available with two monitors to practice terminology extraction and speech to text Al technology for a better learning experience.
